Palawan is definitely one of our favorite islands in the Philippines. Its beauty is just mesmerizing and there are many spots to visit: Port Barton, El Nido, Coron, San Vicente or even Balabac!
You can check here one of our videos we have done in collaboration with the Department of Tourism of the Philippines and see how it looks like: Wake Up in Palawan!
Palawan was dubbed as the “last ecological frontier” of the Philippines. That’s because it’s home to rich natural resources and diverse flora and fauna both on land and in the sea.
The land is blessed with lush jungles inhabited by various native animals. Meanwhile, the clear, sparkling waters are home to vibrant corals and marine creatures. Thus, making Palawan the best destination to enjoy and appreciate nature.
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park draws thousands of local and international tourists. That’s because of its pristine natural beauty, intact old-growth forests, and distinctive wildlife.
Its spectacular limestone karst landscape and impressive cave system containing a full 'mountain-to-sea' ecosystem have helped the site garner a spot on the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
Its raw beauty unmatched by other natural attractions are what makes it such an IG-worthy spot in Coron, Palawan. Nothing can beat the towering limestone cliffs and crystal clear waters at Kayangan Lake!
Besides taking tons of pictures, Kayangan Lake is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and free diving because its waters are the perfect combination of freshwater and saltwater.
There are much more to know about Palawan, so if you want to learn more here are some links:
If you happen to spend some time in Metro Manila, you could visit the city of Manila. That is where Intramuros (the old city). Just take note that Metro Manila and Manila are not the same thing. Metro Manila is the metropolitan area that contains different cities close to Manila. Manila City is one of its cities.
Manila is the sprawling capital of the Philippines. However, it’s often dismissed in favor of more popular destinations. This concrete jungle could be just as interesting as other tourist spots.
The city is a fusion of the country’s past, present, and future – a multi-cultural heritage, riveting architectural structures, and gleaming skyscrapers. There are a lot of cultural and heritage sites, parks, and other attractions intertwined among the busy roads and towering buildings.
This spot is for those who are curious on what the urban life in the Philippines is. If you prefer going to the beach and seeing nature right when you arrive in the Philippines, some travelers sometimes skip Manila on their trip. Especially if they have limited days in the country.
Intramuros was dubbed as the ‘Walled City’ because its walls span 4.5 km. The Spaniards built Intramuros 400 years ago to serve as their political and military base. It may just be ruins today, but that’s exactly why Intramuros is a must-see destination in Manila.
The best way to explore Intramuros is by going on a bamboo bike tour organized by Bambike Ecotours. The most notable parts to see are Fort Santiago, Plaza Roma, Manila Cathedral, and San Agustin Museum.
The National Museum Complex has four divisions: Fine Arts, Anthropology, Natural History, and the National Planetarium.
The National Museum of Fine Arts houses 29 galleries and hallway exhibitions. It features the works of National Artists, notable painters, sculptors, and printmakers. One of the first and most prominent paintings you’ll see is the Spoliarium by Juan Luna.
If you want to understand Philippine history through artifacts, then the National Museum of Anthropology is the place to be. It’s home to Philippine ethnographic and terrestrial and underwater archaeological collections, which are very intriguing!
The Philippines has rich flora and fauna, and the National Museum of Natural History is the best place to discover that. It has 12 permanent galleries that exhibit botanical, zoological, and geological specimens that showcase the country’s unique natural history.
The National Planetarium would be interesting for anyone interested in astronomy. You get to explore the ethnoastronomy exhibitions and experience full-dome digital and mobile planetarium shows and actual celestial observations.
The island has changed a lot! It used to be where the wildest nightlife of the Philippines could be found. It is no more the case and it has some pros. Boracay is now very clean and much more enjoyable for families and travelers who are looking for a more relaxing place.
Boracay is one of the most popular beach destinations in the world. In fact, German travel writer Jens Peter even called Boracay as “paradise on earth.” And in February 2022 alone, over 47,000 local and foreign tourists visited Boracay.
The most prominent beach in Boracay is the White Beach. Yup, that’s where Stations 1, 2, and 3 are! There are loads of water sports activities, hip bars and cafes, and hotels for every type of traveler on White Beach. However, there are other awesome places to see in Boracay besides White Beach.
Conquer your fear of heights and cliff dive from the diving boards at Ariel’s Point. The lowest board is 3 meters, while the highest is 15 meters.
However, the place has other activities in store as well if you're not built for thrill. Go paddle boarding, kayaking, or snorkeling along the Buruanga coast.
Puka Shell Beach is just as beautiful as other beaches in Boracay. But it offers something you won’t find anywhere else: privacy.
There aren’t as many hotels, bars, and tourists in Puka Shell Beach compared to White Beach. The also isn’t as bright white, but it’s still fine and powdery like in White Beach. Puka Shell Beach is the best place to go for if you want to enjoy the moment and have a serene vacation.
More about Boracay:
Bohol is not just a beautiful destination, but it’s an exciting place to go to as well. There are gorgeous beaches, historical and cultural sites, jungle adventures, and amazing diving spots all over the island.
It’s probably one of the most diverse and interesting destinations in the Philippines. Whether you want to have a relaxing vacation or you seek for thrill and excitement, you’ll definitely have a splendid time at Bohol.
Cruising along Loboc River is the best way to enjoy a sumptuous lunch. The floating restaurants will take you upstream to see the nipa trees and coconuts lining the river. Besides that, you’ll also see local communities showcasing their talent in singing and dancing.
The Chocolate Hills in Carmen has become the icon of Bohol. And there’s no better way to see these geological wonders than gliding over them!
The Chocolate Hills Adventure Park has thrilling adventures such as the Rush Bike Zip and Wave Runner Surf Zipline that give you the right amount of adrenaline along with a wonderful view of the hills.
Siargao was once a well-kept secret among surfers. But today, it’s now known as one of the best islands in Asia. Something to have in mind now: Siargao was badly hit by the recent typhoon Rai and lots of areas were devastated. Therefore, the islanders are slowly rebuilding the place but it will definitely take some time.
The surf capital is the perfect destination for thrill-seekers and lovers of the great outdoors. There are other things to do besides surfing and windsurfing. This tiny haven is home to world-class waves, white sand beaches, hidden lagoons, and unique cave pools.
This natural rock pool is tidal. That means that you can only visit them on low tide, when they are visible.
Jump from the cliffs (maybe even do some flips!) and explore the caves in this epic area. If you plan to climb rocks, wear water shoes for protection. The rocks are jagged and quite sharp.
Emerald waters lined with the Del Carmen Mangrove Reserve are what draws tourists to Sugba Lagoon. The main point of interest here is the diving board. It often draws a long queue for a split second of thrill. Besides diving, you can also rent kayaks, bamboo rafts, and stand-up paddleboards.
Cebu is one of the more popular destinations in the Philippines. Although the waters and natural wonders are the main attractions of the island, Cebu City is the oldest, and second-largest city in the country.
The island is teeming with beautiful beaches, diving spots, and historical and cultural landmarks. The local cuisine and delicacies are just as amazing, too!
Moalboal is known for the sardine run, one of the most unique experiences in Cebu! And if you’re lucky enough, you might encounter a thresher shark looking for a sumptuous meal of sardines.
The best thing about Moalboal is that the town was able to preserve its laid-back atmosphere. Despite being flocked by tourists, the town is like a breath of fresh air from all the hustle and bustle of the city. Moalboal is a great place to slow down and enjoy the sun, sand, and sea.
Magellan’s Cross holds a significant part of Cebu’s history. The Portuguese and Spanish explorers led by Ferdinand Magellan planted the cross on March 15, 1521, upon their arrival.
A small chapel near the Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño and the Cebu City Hall houses Magellan's Cross. You can visit it anytime of the year. But if you witness how festive the city can get, visit Cebu during the Sinulog Festival. It’s held on the third Sunday of January.
